Our story

At Three Dollar Bill, our vision is to create a welcoming and safe space that serves as a hub for Toronto’s Queer community. We believe that a great Queer bar isn’t just a place to drink but a place to build community, explore your identity and create lasting connections.

Our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming and community-focused space that celebrates and supports the diverse Queer community in Toronto and beyond. We strive to create a vibrant and joyful atmosphere that fosters connection, creativity and social justice. We are committed to organizing events, programs and services that reflect the diverse needs and interests of our community; including dance parties, drag shows, trivia nights, art shows and more.

Acknowledgements

Three Dollar Bill acknowledges with gratitude that the sacred land in which we operate is situated upon the traditional territories of the Wendat, Haudenosaunee, the Anishinabeg, and most recently the Mississaugas of the Credit.

Three Dollar Bill recognizes the many Nations of Indigenous People, who presently live on this land, those who have spent time here and the ancestors who have hunted and gathered on this land known as Turtle Island. Three Dollar Bill recognizes and supports the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, applying both to our work.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Queer activists who have played a vital role in paving the way for our freedom as a Queer bar here in Canada. Their unwavering dedication, courage, and advocacy have contributed significantly to the progress and acceptance of LGBTQ+ rights in this country.

As a Queer bar, we stand on the shoulders of these remarkable individuals and countless others who have made it possible for us to create a safe and welcoming space for our community. We honour their legacy by continuing to celebrate diversity, champion equality, and provide a space where everyone can be their authentic selves. Thank you to all the Queer activists who came before us; your courage and resilience inspire us every day.

Recognition

We recognize the historical and ongoing struggles of marginalized Queer people and are dedicated to working towards a more just and equitable future. We aim to use our platform as a community hub to raise awareness, advocate for change and build community power.

Above all, we believe that everyone who walks through our doors deserves to be valued and respected regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ability or any other aspect of their identity. We are committed to creating and maintaining a space where everyone can feel at home, connect with others and celebrate their authentic selves.
